StarryEYES Portrait
Photography by Lou Heredia

Since the age of 13, Nic Weethee has been writing and composing music. "Burnt Toast" a song that Nic wrote with his band Eruption in 1994, became a favorite amongst his teen peers. He, his brother (Chris) and their next door neighbor (Derek) kept the band around for over a year and broke up soon after high school began. Nic continued to write, and once high school was over he got back into the band scene singing and playing guitar with many different bands. After trying out many musical tastes trying to find his sound he joined up with the guys from Beyond The Point, a Northern California based group out of Modesto, CA. They recorded a 4 song demo together and decided to add a second guitarist to the group and give the band a new name. Going by the new name Shortline, Nic and the rest of the guys toured throughout California and recorded a second demo. After being together for a few years the band ended up breaking up when Nic decided to leave the band and continue with his side project StarryEYES in 2003. He joined up with a friend and played acoustic showcases around the Northern California area. And after a year of doing that, one day he decided he was going to move to L.A. And with a suitcase full of clothes, $400 in his bank account and a Ford Econoline he set his sights on Hollywood. After being a vagabond & playing acoustic showcases in and around the Los Angeles area for 4 months Nic found a place to live in Burbank, CA. He spent the next year playing at local shows and working part time to get by. After he had saved up enough money to record a demo he went down to Radd Sound Studios in Northridge, CA and ended up recording a 9 song album which he titled "Pick Up The Pieces". He toured that album throughout California for two years before getting in to the studio to record his sophmore album "She's A Thief", which was released in early 2008. He has worked with many amazing musicians in the studio and on the stage. Music is one of his biggest passions in life. It is no doubt this singer/songwriter has overcome many obstacles in his journey, which proves that he will be around for many years to come.
